Wild dagga is a tall, striking plant with orange tubular flowers, widely used in Zulu, Xhosa, and Sotho traditional medicine. The leaves and flowers are used to treat fever, headache, epilepsy, skin conditions, and as a mild euphoric and nerve tonic. Its alkaloid leonurine produces gentle sedative and anti-anxiety effects, making it a traditional remedy for nervous tension and insomnia. The plant is also applied topically for eczema and other skin conditions.
